BRENHAM FD: VEHICLE HITS PEDESTRIAN, BUT NO ONE HURT
The Brenham Fire Department reports no injuries after a vehicle-pedestrian accident Sunday night.
Shortly after 7 p.m., firefighters were dispatched to the 1800 block of North Park Street for a transportation incident. They arrived on location to find that a single vehicle hit a pedestrian. The fire department, along with EMS and Brenham police, looked for the patient and found him at the soccer fields. He was stated to not be hurt, so firefighters cleared the scene. The fire department report did not say if anyone was charged in the incident.
The call was one of six in total for the fire department over the weekend.
The first two calls came on Saturday at the Brenham State Supported Living Center, 4001 Highway 36 South. Units responded to fire alarms shortly before 11:30 a.m. and around 5:30 p.m. In both instances, an employee told firefighters it was a behavioral issue, and the alarm was reset.
Just past 10 p.m., BFD personnel were called to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center, 700 Medical Parkway, for a report of a structure fire. Nothing was showing from the exterior of the building, and there was no smoke or fire inside, but there was an electrical smell. The department found a light ballast causing the smell and advised maintenance of the issue before returning to service.
Shortly after 10:45 p.m., the department went out to a fire alarm in the Mill Creek Residence Hall, 1192 Old Mill Creek Road. Nothing was showing from the outside, but firefighters found a light haze inside a room that caused the alarm to go off. They ventilated the room and reset the alarm before returning to the station.
A few minutes after 5:15 p.m. Sunday, BFD members received a report of gas inside a home in the 2000 block of Muscadine Trail. They found no reading on the gas detector, so they replaced the batteries in the detector and cleared the scene.
