CUBETTES GET BOUNCE BACK 8-0 WIN OVER WEST FORK
The Brenham Cubette Softball Team got themselves back on the winning track on Monday night with an 8-0 win over New Caney West Fork at Alumni Field. The victory snapped a three-game losing streak for the Cubettes and evened their record at 4-4 on the season.
Brenham got the scoring started in the bottom of the second inning. Kinley Antkowiak reached on a single, and then scored on an RBI double Kyla Garcia. Stella Landry followed with an RBI single of her own to score Garcia, and make it 2-0 Cubettes.
In the fourth inning, Antkowiak singled. Garcia laid down a sacrifice bunt to move her to second. Antkowiak stole third, and would later come home after Laityn Davis beat out a bunt for base hit.
Davis stole second. Sloan Tucker was brought in as a courtesy runner since Davis was pitching. She would come home to score on the second RBI single of the game from Stella Landry, which increased the Cubette lead to 4-0.
Ali Tiemann came in to courtesy run for Landry, and wound up riding home on a two-run blast by Avery Maurer to centerfield, which made it 6-0 Brenham.
The Cubettes tacked on two more runs in the fifth inning. McKenzie Tiemann reached on an error. Aldyn Jaks reached on a fielder's choice. Tiemann scored on a steal of home. Antkowiak walked, and then on a double steal attempt Jaks scored to finish the run total at 8-0.
