FIVE ARRESTED BY WASHINGTON CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE ON CHARGES INCLUDING DRUG POSSESSION, WARRANTS
Five people were arrested between Thursday and Sunday by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
Around 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Corporal Eric Crosby responded to a reckless driver call in the 12000 block of Highway 105. The driver, 23-year-old Azeem Ameen Sohani of College Station, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and transported to the Washington County Jail for booking.
Shortly after 9:45 p.m., Sergeant Nicholas Pfeffer conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Main Street and FM 2447 for failing to stop at a stop sign. The sheriff’s office says the driver, 38-year-old Christopher Griffin of Houston, was operating the vehicle with a suspended license and had an active warrant in Harris County. Griffin was taken into custody and transported to the Washington County Jail, charged with Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon (Failure to Appear).
Just before 2:15 p.m. Friday, Corporal Rosa Salinas initiated a traffic stop in the 200 block of West Alamo Street for a driver not secured with a seat belt. After receiving consent to search the vehicle, the sheriff’s office reported locating narcotics. 39-year-old Craig Allen Marcum of Brenham was placed under arrest and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1, 4-20 grams, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Tampering/Fabricating Evidence with Intent to Impair. Marcum also had an active warrant in Robertson County for Assault Causing Bodily Injury to a Family Member.
Minutes later, Corporal Adam Zavala responded to a call of a reckless driver in the 14000 block of Highway 290 West. Zavala conducted a traffic stop for failure to drive in a single marked lane. According to the sheriff’s office, the driver was found to be intoxicated and in possession of a controlled substance. 42-year-old Michael Darrin Harvey of Grant, Arkansas was taken to the Washington County Jail and charged with Driving While Intoxicated Open Alcohol Container, Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 2, 1-4 grams, Driving While License Invalid and Failure to Provide Proof of Financial Responsibility.
Just past 2 p.m. Sunday, Corporal Salinas stopped a vehicle in the 4500 block of Highway 290 West for an obstructed license plate. After a probable cause search, the driver, 39-year-old Joe Samuel Martinez of Montgomery, was placed into custody and taken to the Washington County Jail for Possession of Marijuana Less than 2oz., Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon and Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 2, 1-4 grams.
