CITY OF BRENHAM BEGINS WATER, WASTEWATER MAIN REPLACEMENT PROJECT MONDAY

Work gets underway next week to perform water main and sanitary sewer replacements in Brenham.

The City of Brenham contracted in November with JTM Construction, LLC to complete a two-phase water and wastewater main replacement project, designed to enhance the city’s infrastructure and improve utility services.

The city says the first phase, which begins on Monday, will focus on replacing existing sanitary sewer mains, services and water mains along Church Street, from West Stone Street to Mansfield Street, and on Mansfield Street, from South Austin Street to South Market Street.  Work is expected to take approximately four months to complete.

Once the first phase is done, phase two will involve replacing water mains and services on Century Circle, Heritage Drive and Carriage Lane.  The city says the second phase should last about three months.

Residents who live in the affected areas will be notified by the city with additional details about the work schedule.

The City of Brenham Street Department will return to the impacted streets after construction is wrapped up to rebuild the roadways.  The city says the updated utility lines and newly reconstructed streets will ensure that residents benefit from reliable, long-lasting infrastructure.

Construction will take place from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.  Work zones and traffic control measures will be in place throughout the construction areas.  City staff and contractors will coordinate with residents so that they have access to home.

The city asks for the public’s patience and cooperation and says anyone with questions can contact the Public Utilities Department at 979-337-7400.
