CUB BASEBALL GETS A WIN AND A TIE ON THURSDAY
While the Santa Fe Tournament was canceled, the Brenham Cubs managed to find a pair of games to play yesterday (Thursday).
BRENHAM CUBS 5 FORT BEND HIGHTOWER 1
The Cubs got the scoring going in the top of the first inning. Dalton Hart led it off with a single. Then, he stole second base, took third base on a passed ball, and scored on a sacrifice fly by Drake Bentke.
Hightower tied it at 1-1 with a run in the bottom of the first inning.
Brenham went back in front in the top of the second inning. Cannon Credeur drew a lead-off walk. He later scored on a sacrifice fly by Luke Hardy to make it 2-1 Cubs.
Brenham added three more insurance runs in the top of the third. Grady Gee and Hart were both hit by pitches to start the inning. Brady Rau laid down a sacrifice bunt to move them over. Gee then scored on an RBI groundout by Bentke. Landry Mendoza drove home Hart with an RBI single. He later came around to score after a pair of errors by the Hurricanes to give the Cubs a 5-1 advantage.
Brayden Steele got the win on the mound as he combined with Brett Campbell and Hart on a one-hitter.

BRENHAM CUBS 2 LUTHERAN SOUTH ACADEMY 2
Brenham and Lutheran South Academy played to a 2-2 tie in the second game. The game was called after seven innings.
The game was scoreless until the Cubs put up a pair of runs in the top of the sixth inning. Dalton Hart and Drake Bentke reached on singles, and Landry Mendoza walked to load the bases.
Two batters later, Evan Curtis hit a two-run single that scored Hart and Bentke to give Brenham a 2-0 lead.
Despite not getting any hits, Lutheran South Academy managed to take advantage of four walks, a HBP, and a passed ball to score two runs in the bottom of the inning and tie it at 2-2.
Neither team managed to score in the seventh.

The Cubs are scheduled for two more games this (Friday) afternoon. They will face Pearland Dawson at 12 noon, followed by Fort Bend Hightower at 4:30pm. Both games will be played at Lutheran South Academy in Houston.
