BRENHAM FIRE DEPT. RESPONDS FRIDAY TO GAS LEAK, REPORT OF SMOKE
The Brenham Fire Department responded to two calls Friday night.
At 9:15 p.m., firefighters received a request to check the chimney at a home in the 1200 block of West Jefferson Street. They arrived on location to find nothing showing from the exterior. The homeowner advised he had flames coming out of the chimney and the house filled up with smoke. Units did not discover any fire in the attic or on the roof, and they informed the homeowner that nothing was found.
At 10:30 p.m., BFD members went out to a report of a gas odor outside a home in the 700 block of Legrand Street. Firefighters and the City of Brenham Gas Department arrived to find a small leak at the meter. The gas department repaired the leak, and the fire department returned to service.
