BURTON PANTHERS RUN-RULE LULING 14-1

The Burton Panthers made quick work of Luling last (Monday) night with a 14-1 victory in a game that was called after just three and half innings.

Burton got it started with a big seven-run first inning. Tyler Witt reached on an error, and came home to score on an RBI triple by Ryder Biggs. That made it 1-0 Panthers. Biggs scored on a passed ball.

Then, Braydon Martin and Reuben Rodriguez both singled. Isaac Matthies came in to courtesy run for Martin. Coy Gurka followed by hitting a two-run single that scored Matthies and Rodriguez, which gave Burton a 4-0 lead.

Eli Jaeger singled home Gurka to give Burton a 5-0 lead. Houston Hodde reached on a base hit, and later scored on an RBI single by Witt. Brady Griffin walked and then scored on an RBI single by Braydon Martin to make it 7-0 Panthers.

Burton would put the game away with seven more runs in the third inning. Griffin reached on an error. Matt Roemer and Witt each singled to load the bases. Biggs then followed with a three-run triple to give the Panthers a 10-0 lead.

Martin hit a double to score Biggs. Matthies came in to courtesy run for Martin. He then would come home on an RBI double by Reuben Rodriguez to put Burton ahead 12-0.

They weren't quite done yet. Jaeger reached on an error, which allowed Rodriguez to score. Simank, who came in to run for Jaeger, scored the last Burton run when Caleb Nossman reached on catcher's interfe nce.

Luling did manage to get one run on the board in the top of fourth.

With the win, the Panthers are now 2-0 on the season. Next up, they will host the Burton Tournament this weekend. Due to the construction going on, the Thursday and Friday games are going to be held at Schulte Field in Brenham. The Saturday games will be back in Burton.
