CUBETTES DROP DISTRICT OPENER TO COLLEGE STATION 8-1

It was a rough evening for the Brenham Cubette Softball Team as they lost their district opener to College Station 8-1 last (Tuesday) night.

Brenham ran into a buzzsaw in Lady Cougar Senior Pitcher Gracie Ream, who struck out 17 batters on her way to the win.

Kylie Baker took the loss in the circle. Avery Maurer led Brenham at the plate with a pair of singles.

Brenham's only run came in the top of the fifth inning. Harper Castillo drew a leadoff walk. Ali Tiemann came in to pinch-run. She then took second on a single by Sarah Mabie, and later scored on a throwing error.

Next up, the Cubettes will be taking part in the Liberty Tournament, which opens tomorrow (Thursday). Brenham is going to play Crosby in the opening game at 9am, followed by Grand Oaks at 11am.
