The Certificate of Appropriateness (CoA) application came from Michael Breddin and Ed Fulkerson of Leftover Antiques, who purchased the property at 203 West Alamo Street from Connie Wilder and intend to renovate it and turn it into “The Forge”, with plans to sell antiques, furniture, décor and household items.

The exterior alterations approved by the board include replacing the doors and windows, removing the front façade awning, installing copper gas lanterns and performing general in-kind repairs.

The board also approved repainting the building in a shade of black, with final selection and trim color subject to administrative approval by the Historic Preservation Officer.

Also at Tuesday’s meeting, board members received an update regarding the deteriorating decorative urns on top of The Barnhill Center, which city staff members say have become a safety concern.  The urns are being removed and will be repaired, restored or replicated before being reinstalled at a later time.
