ACCIDENT, GAS LEAK AMONG FIVE CALLS SUNDAY FOR BRENHAM FIRE DEPT.

The Brenham Fire Department was called out five times on Sunday.

Just past noon, the department was dispatched to the Brenham State Supported Living Center, 4001 Highway 36 South, for a report of an alarm sounding.  Units arrived on location to find nothing showing from the exterior of the building.  After walking the area, they found no signs of smoke or fire, so they reset the alarm and returned to service.

A few minutes before 1:30 p.m., BFD members went out to H-E-B, 2508 South Say Street, for a child locked inside a vehicle.  They made location and coached the child to pull the door handle to open the door.  The child was able to open the door and was unharmed.

Around 2:15 p.m., firefighters responded to a transportation incident in the 100 block of South Market Street.  At the scene, they found a two-vehicle accident with no injuries, and they helped moved the vehicles off the roadway before clearing the call.

Approaching 6:30 p.m., personnel received a report of a gas smell inside and outside a home in the 2300 block of Parker Court.  They arrived to find a small leak around the gas meter and stood by until the City of Brenham Gas Department made location and released them from the scene.

At 9:45 p.m., units were called out for a report of an alarm sounding at Parklane Villas, 800 Hosea Street.  Nothing was showing from the exterior of the building when they made location, and upon speaking with the owner, they were advised that no alarm was activated.  After walking through the building and discovering no signs of smoke or fire, the department returned to service.
