CUBETTES GET 3-2 DISTRICT WIN OVER MONTGOMERY
The Brenham Cubette Softball Team got back on the winning track with a 3-2 victory over the Montgomery Lady Bears tonight (Friday).
The Cubettes got it going in the first inning with a leadoff double by Avery Maurer. Sarah Mabie followed with an RBI single to score Maurer and give Brenham the 1-0 lead. Mabie later scored on a squeeze bunt by Kinley Antkowiak to make it 2-0 Cubettes.
Brenham tacked on another run in the top of the third. McKenzie Tiemann reached on a two-out single. She then stole second, and later scored on an RBI single by Kinley Antkowiak to give Brenham a 3-0 advantage.
Montgomery cut into the lead with a run in the bottom of the third and another in the bottom of the fourth, to make it a 3-2 game, but that would be as close as they would get.
Kylie Baker would should the Lady Bears down the rest of the way to earn the victory. Baker went all seven innings allowing just five hits, two unearned runs, four walks, and struck out nine.
Next up, the Cubettes will host Huntsville for Youth Night on Tuesday at 6:30pm. KWHI will have live coverage beginning with the pregame at 6:05pm.
