SHOP FIRE ONE OF FOUR CALLS THURSDAY FOR BRENHAM FD

The Brenham Fire Department responded to four calls on Thursday.

Shortly after 6:30 a.m., firefighters were called out to a structure fire in the 5500 block of Spreen Road.  The Brenham Fire Department made location with the Prairie Hill and Gay Hill Volunteer Fire Departments to find a shop with fire inside.  Units used handlines and tank water to extinguish the fire and contained it in the shop.  Once all hotspots were out, all units returned to service.

Just before 8 a.m., the fire department went out to a crash in the 1900 block of Highway 290 East.  After checking the vehicles, BFD members were released from the scene by Brenham police.

Another crash call was reported at 3:30 p.m. at East Blue Bell Road and Hasskarl Drive.  Units checked the vehicles and provided traffic control before returning to service.

A few minutes after 8 p.m., firefighters were called to a fire alarm at Hampton Inn & Suites, 2605 Schulte Boulevard, but it was determined that the system had a malfunction.
