BRENHAM FD CALLED OUT TO CRASH, POWER LINE FIRE

The Brenham Fire Department responded to two calls on Thursday and one early this (Friday) morning.

At 3 p.m. Thursday, units were called out to a crash in the 1700 block of Highway 105.  They made location and checked for injuries, but all who were involved said they were not injured.  The department stayed on scene to direct traffic until the vehicles were cleared from the roadway.

At 8:30 p.m., firefighters were dispatched to a carbon monoxide alarm at a home in the 2100 block of Timberline Court.  At the scene, they used a multi-gas monitor and found no detection of carbon monoxide.  They did find that the homeowner’s detector was faulty and had bad batteries, so they advised the homeowner of the issue and informed her that she needed a new detector.

At 1:30 a.m. today, BFD members responded to a structure fire at a home in the 400 block of East Lubbock Street.  Upon arrival, they found a large tree limb that had fallen onto the garage and ripped the service power line down to the home.  The homeowner had extinguished the small fire that was burning around the meter.  Brenham units, along with members of the Salem and Meyersville Volunteer Fire Departments, remained on scene until the power line was removed and no longer causing a hazard.  They then checked the home for fire extension and found no signs where the charring was located.  All units then returned to service.
