TWO ACCIDENTS AMONG EIGHT CALLS FRIDAY FOR BRENHAM FD

The Brenham Fire Department responded to eight calls on Friday.

Shortly after 10:45 a.m., firefighters went out to a home in the 700 block of Loesch Street for a report of a gas smell outside the home.  They found a small leak at the meter, so the City of Brenham Gas Department made location and released the fire department from the scene.

At 12:30 p.m., units received a report of a transportation incident at Burleson Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway.  They arrived to discover a two-vehicle accident.  Upon checking for injuries, they found one patient, so they helped EMS with care.  After cleaning up the spill on the roadway, the department returned to service once the vehicles were removed.

Shortly before 12:45 p.m., another accident was called in from Highway 290 West and Highway 36 North.  The department found a two-vehicle accident with minor damage and no one hurt.  Both vehicles were moved to a parking lot, and once the roadway was back open, units cleared the call.

Just past 5 p.m., BFD members were dispatched to the Bluffview Villas Senior Apartments, 2699 Schulte Boulevard, for a report of a welfare concern.  They were enroute when dispatch advised that Brenham Police was able to open the door, so they cancelled their response.

The department also had four false fire alarm calls, three at the Brenham State Supported Living Center at 4001 Highway 36 South, and one at Kruse Village at 1700 East Stone Street.
