ACCIDENT, GAS ODOR AT HOME AMONG THREE RESPONSES FRIDAY FOR BRENHAM FD

The Brenham Fire Department responded to three calls on Friday.

At 9:30 a.m., units were dispatched to Highway 290 East and Tiaden Lane for a report of a vehicle fire.  They arrived in the area and found an 18-wheeler had smoke coming from the brakes.  After checking, the department found no signs of fire, so it returned to service.

Close to 12:15 p.m., firefighters were called out to the 900 block of East Academy Street for a transportation incident.  They made location to find a two-vehicle accident with injuries.  BFD members helped EMS with patient care and cleaned the roadway, returning to the station once the vehicles were removed.

Around 5:15 p.m., the department was sent out to a home in the 1900 block of Cena Drive for a report of a gas smell.  Firefighters and the City of Brenham Gas Department found nothing showing from the exterior of the home, but they did detect readings on the gas detector.  The gas department did a shut-in test, while firefighters ventilated the building.  Once there were no more readings on the detector, the fire department cleared the call.
