LCRA TO ACCEPT APPLICATIONS IN JULY FOR COMMUNITY GRANTS UP TO $100,000
The Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) is set to open its application process for community grants.
Applications will be available online at https://lcra.org/grants beginning on Tuesday and must be submitted by midnight on July 31st.
Grants will be awarded for projects such as improvements to fire stations, community centers, sports fields, libraries and other facilities, as well as providing updated gear and equipment for emergency responders.
Most grants are for $25,000 or less, but several will be for projects of up to $50,000. Additionally, to commemorate the grant program’s 30th anniversary, one grant of up to $100,000 will be awarded during this grant cycle, with a second $100,000 grant to be awarded based on applications submitted in January 2026.
Applicants requesting more than $5,000 in grant funding must supply matching funds of at least 20 percent of the total project cost. The projects must benefit or be available to an entire community and improve the value of a capital asset through building, renovating or purchasing equipment.
The grants are available to organizations in 73 counties throughout LCRA’s service territory, including volunteer fire departments, emergency responders, libraries, civic groups, museums and other tax-exempt nonprofit organizations, in addition to local governments, schools and hospitals. They are not available to individuals, for-profit entities, professional associations, social service projects or limited-use facilities.
