CITY OF BRENHAM TAKING DONATIONS TO RESTART POLICE K-9 PROGRAM

The City of Brenham is now accepting contributions to relaunch its police K-9 program.

The police K-9 will be trained to track missing persons, detect illegal drugs, assist in high-risk situations and help protect officers and the community.

The city says ever since its K-9 program ended in September 2020, law enforcement in Washington County has requested K-9 support more than 150 times, often having to wait for assistance from outside counties or sometimes going without.

The intent is to restart the K-9 program completely through community donations, with a goal of $75,000.  Funding will go toward:

  • Training equipment (collars, leads, bite sleeves, etc.)
  • A secure kennel, doghouse, and transport system
  • Monthly care: food, grooming, vet visits, and protective gear
  • Detection, fitness, and obedience training tools

Donations can be submitted by check to the City of Brenham, with the memo line as PD K-9 Donation, or online at https://cityofbrenham.org.  All proceeds go directly to the K-9 program.

  1. The City of Brenham cannot afford a dog?? Give me a break. With really bad streets, understaffed Police and Fire , and all the new citizens moving in there has to be loads of money. Wake up people!!
