JULY SALES TAX REBATES UP ACROSS WASHINGTON CO.
July was a positive month of sales and tax distributions in Washington County.
The county’s rebate this month came in at $394,411, up 11.6 percent from July 2024, when the county took in $353,407. So far this year, the county has received $2,862,114, an increase of 5.86 percent from the $2,703,638 received through this time a year ago.
The City of Brenham’s rebate for this July is up 7.37 percent from last July, at $822,280 compared to $765,784. Through 2025 to this point, the city has collected $6,131,036, 4.78 percent more than the year-to-date sum last year of $5,851,100.
The City of Burton saw a rebate of $10,283 this month, an increase of 38.88 percent from the $7,404 it received in July of last year. To date, the city has brought in $106,701, up 7.84 percent from a year ago, when it had received $98,935.
Acting Comptroller Kelly Hancock announced $1.2 billion in local sales tax allocations this month, up 4.5 percent from last July and up 4.7 percent for the year so far.
July’s allocations are based on sales made in May by businesses that report tax monthly.
