MINOR SOFTBALL LITTLE LEAGUE TAKES GAME 1 OF STATE TOURNAMENT, DEFEATING EAST END 12-0
Yesterday, Friday, July 11, the Washington County Little League All-Stars traveled to Rosenberg to kick off the minor softball state tournament against East End. Continuing their dominant postseason run, Washington County shut out East End 12-0 to advance to the next round.
Riding the momentum from their sectional tournament success where they posted back-to-back no-hitters Washington County once again held their opponent hitless. Pitchers Lillie Landua and Teagyn Wilson combined for the team's third consecutive no-hitter, commanding the game from the first pitch. Behind the plate, catcher Raelyn Rosenbaum was a defensive standout, throwing out three East End runners attempting to steal second.
The team’s defensive prowess was matched by an explosive offensive effort. Washington County batted through their entire lineup in the first inning, scoring seven runs to take early control of the game. They kept the pressure on with four more runs in the fourth inning. Finlee Youngs and Paisley Meyer each drove in two runs, helping enforce the run rule and seal the 12-0 victory.
Next up, Washington County will face District 27 champion Industrial in the second round, after Industrial defeated Lumberton, 14-0. With a spot in the championship game on the line, Washington County will look to maintain their elite play on both sides of the ball.
