WASHINGTON CO. COMMISSIONERS TO HEAR PROJECT UPDATES

  

Washington County Commissioners will hear updates on ongoing county projects at their meeting on Tuesday.

Representatives from PlanNorth Architectural Company will provide progress reports on work at the Expo and plans for a judicial center.

In February, the county entered into an agreement with PlanNorth for engineering/architectural and site planning services for projects at the Expo site, which include a covered rodeo arena, as well as other county sites. 

Commissioners will also take up action to allow the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department to use the parking lot east of the Washington County Constable’s Office for collecting chronic wasting disease (CWD) samples during the upcoming hunting season.

Later in the meeting, the court will consider a memorandum of understanding between the sheriff’s office and MHMR Authority of Brazos Valley. 

Additionally, commissioners will receive monthly reports from the sheriff’s office, county and district clerks, justices of the peace, auditor, tax assessor-collector, treasurer, constables, elections and veterans service officer.

In other business, the court will:

• Potentially authorize the hire of an elections clerk approximately a month in advance of the current employee’s anticipated departure, in order to allow time for training, transition and continuity of operations.  It will also vote on a budget amendment from salary contingency for the clerk’s position in the elections and voter registration office.
• Act on an order of public interest and the plat revision for the Anton subdivision in Precinct 4.
• Discuss a formal notice from Industry Telephone Company for a new service line installation across the county right-of-way of Dead End Lane in Precinct 4.

Commissioners will meet Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the Washington County Courthouse.
