BRENHAM PD MAKES EIGHT WEEKEND ARRESTS

  

Eight people were arrested between Friday and Sunday by the Brenham Police Department.

Michael Leroy Hooper

At 8 a.m. Friday, officers conducted a warrant service in the 1700 block of West Main Street.  Investigation revealed that an individual, 45-year-old Michael Leroy Hooper of Brenham, showed to have an active warrant for Assault of a Family or Household Member with Previous Conviction.  Hooper was placed into custody and transported to the Washington County Jail.

Around 1 p.m., Officer Garrett Downs conducted a traffic stop in the 800 block of Highway 290 East for expired registration.  After investigation, police found that the driver, identified as 37-year-old Tommy Farrell Sr. of Brenham, had three active warrants.  The warrants were for Assault of a Family Member, No Driver’s License and Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility.  Farrell was placed into custody and transported to the Washington County Jail.

Shortly after 12:15 a.m. Saturday, officers responded to the 100 block of West Main Street in reference to a disturbance.  Police reported that 33-year-old Dylan Dean Hughes and 40-year-old Emmanuel Velez Santiago, both of Brenham, were intoxicated in a public place and were fighting or attempting to fight with individuals.  Both subjects were taken to the Washington County Jail and charged with Public Intoxication and Disorderly Conduct – Fighting with Another.

Approaching 11:15 a.m., Officer Downs conducted a welfare check in the 100 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway for an individual sleeping at a business.  Investigation revealed that the subject, identified as 31-year-old Warren Wright of Bellville, showed an active warrant for Burglary of a Habitation.  After the warrant was confirmed out of Austin County, Wright was taken to the Washington County Jail for booking.

On Sunday, a few minutes after 10:30 a.m., Officer Downs conducted a traffic stop in the 3000 block of Highway 290 East for expired registration.  Police say the driver, 30-year-old Duandre Clinton of La Grange, was in possession of marijuana.  Clinton was transported to the Washington County Jail for Possession of Marijuana Under 2oz.

At 12:15 p.m., Officer Downs was dispatched to the 100 block of East Commerce Street for a welfare concern.  Police state that the individual, identified as 21-year-old Jay Turner of Brenham, was intoxicated in a public place and in possession of Xanax and marijuana.  Turner was booked in at the Washington County Jail for Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 2, Less Than a Gram, Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 3, Less Than 28 Grams, Possession of Marijuana Under 2oz., and Public Intoxication.

Just past 9 p.m., Sergeant Tiffany Anderson observed a vehicle with a defective headlight in the 2400 block of Highway 290 West.  Police say they detected an odor of marijuana was coming from the vehicle and observed illegal contraband in plain view, so the driver and front seat passenger were detained.  After conducting a probable cause search, officers reported finding liquid THC, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.  Police say the front seat passenger, 32-year-old Brandon Fisher of Brenham, admitted to all of the illegal contraband being his.  After evidence was seized, Fisher was taken to the Washington County Jail for Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 2, Less Than a Gram, and Possession of Marijuana Under 2oz.
