BRENHAM FD RESPONDS TO TWO ACCIDENTS WITH INJURY, INCLUDING ONE WITH HELICOPTER TRANSPORT
The Brenham Fire Department responded to two accidents between Tuesday and early this (Wednesday) morning, both involving injury.
Shortly after 7:45 a.m. Tuesday, units were called out to a transportation incident at Highway 290 East and FM 2447. They made location to find a two-vehicle accident with one injury. The fire department helped EMS with patient care and cleaned the roadway off. Once both vehicles were removed from the roadway, personnel returned to service.
A few minutes after 2:30 a.m. today, a transportation incident with entrapment was reported in the 4000 block of Highway 290 East. Members of the Brenham Fire Department and Chappell Hill Volunteer Fire Department arrived to discover a single-vehicle accident with one patient trapped under the truck. Firefighters and EMS were able to remove the patient from underneath the truck. Chappell Hill units helped to provide traffic control and set up a landing zone for the EMS helicopter to transport the patient to the hospital.
The status of the patients involved in both accidents is unknown.
The Brenham Fire Department responded to three other calls on Tuesday.
Around 9 a.m., BFD members were dispatched to the Brenham State Supported Living Center, 4001 Highway 36 South, for an alarm. Nothing was showing from the exterior of the building, and they found the alarm was reset.
At 8 p.m., firefighters were sent out to an alarm at Grace Lutheran Church, 1212 West Jefferson Street. Nothing was showing from the outside, and the alarm was reset after they found the alarm was caused by workers inside.
At 8:30 p.m., another alarm was reported at the Brenham State Supported Living Center. An employee advised firefighters that the smoke detector went off, but there was no smoke or fire. The department reset the alarm and cleared the scene.
