FAITH MISSION HOSTS SUMMER INTERNS
Two upcoming graduates at Prairie View A&M University are looking to what comes next, after participating in Faith Mission’s yearly summer internship program.

Colquitt and Beatriz Espinoza, with Faith Mission
Executive Director Rev. Randy Wells
Beatriz Espinoza and Cy’Maya Colquitt, both senior health majors who are set to graduate on August 9th, spent this summer with Faith Mission to gain real-world training. For over 15 years, Faith Mission’s field placement internship program has provided opportunities for students and prospective social workers from colleges and universities both in and outside of Texas.
Espinoza says she values the experiences she had through the program, particularly taking part in a multi-city trip with the Faith Mission SMART-CARE Kids. She says being able to interact with people of all ages gives her a better understanding of how to best serve them.
Colquitt says she appreciated being able to assist with conducting a community assessment and working with the Faith Mission food pantry, seeing firsthand how important community partnerships are in providing services. She says this internship helped lay the foundation for what she can expect once she starts her career.
Both Espinoza and Colquitt plan to explore positions in health administration and pursue a master’s degree in the field.
