BLINN COLLEGE’S SAMI RAHMAN NAMED FELLOW OF THE ACADEMY OF ASSOCIATE DEGREE NURSING
The Organization for Associate Degree Nursing (OADN) has named Sami Rahman, Director of Simulation and Clinical Laboratories for the Blinn College District, to its prestigious 2025 class of fellows of the Academy of Associate Degree Nursing (AADN).
This year’s class marks the Academy’s 10th anniversary, celebrating a decade of honoring excellence, leadership, and lasting contributions to associate degree nursing education and practice. Rahman is one of just 16 nursing leaders nationwide selected for the 2025 cohort.
Founded in 2015, the AADN recognizes individuals whose work has advanced the visibility, impact, and value of associate degree-prepared nurses in healthcare and education. Fellows are selected for their visionary leadership, scholarly excellence, and dedication to advancing high-quality, accessible nursing education.
A member of Blinn’s faculty for 19 years, Rahman has served as Director of Simulation and Clinical Laboratories since January 2011. In this role, she has developed innovative strategies to enhance student learning in the College’s simulation and skills labs, integrating advanced technology and interactive simulations to make complex nursing concepts more accessible and engaging. She also has established herself as a thought leader in the use of artificial intelligence in nursing education, exploring ways to leverage AI to enhance simulation, improve learning outcomes, and better prepare students for the evolving healthcare environment.
Rahman is a dedicated advocate for the nursing profession, serving in leadership roles with professional organizations, presenting at state and national conferences, and mentoring future nurses through Blinn’s student nursing club. She encourages students to participate in advocacy efforts, network with peers, and attend professional development events.
Her academic credentials include a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Baylor University, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas Health Science Center Houston, a master’s degree in allied health education from the University of Houston, and a Master of Science in Nursing Education from the University of Phoenix. She also has hands-on nursing experience at MD Anderson Cancer Center and Texas Children’s Hospital.
“Sami’s creativity, leadership, and commitment to the success of her students and the nursing profession make her an outstanding addition to the Academy of Associate Degree Nursing,” said Michelle Trubenstein, Blinn College District Dean of Health Sciences. “She has made a lasting impact at Blinn and will continue to inspire the next generation of nurses.”
