BLINN BOARD TO PROPOSE TAX RATE, RECEIVE LEGISLATIVE UPDATE
The Blinn Board of Trustees will act on proposing a tax rate for the new fiscal year at its meeting on Tuesday.
The college district’s current tax rate is $0.0421 per $100 valuation. The College’s primary drivers of funding are tuition, fees and auxiliaries, and state revenue. Per state law, property tax revenue must only support operations within Blinn’s taxing district in Washington County.
In June, trustees adopted a $134.3 million budget for the 2025-26 Fiscal Year, as well as the tuition and fee rates for the 2026 spring and summer terms. The board voted in April on the fall 2025 tuition and fees, keeping them at the same level as the previous year.
The vote to propose a tax rate will include setting a date, time and location for a public hearing on the new rate.
In other business on Tuesday, trustees will receive a summary of the 89th Texas Legislature. They will also hear administrative and financial reports, along with an enrollment report for the second summer session.
The board will meet Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the third-floor board room of the Brenham Campus Administration Building. The meeting will be livestreamed on Blinn College’s YouTube channel.
