MEDICAL COMPLEX IN BRENHAM EVACUATED AFTER FIRE, BUT NO INJURIES

No injuries are reported after a fire on Thursday at a Brenham medical complex.

At 1:30 p.m., members of the Brenham, Meyersville, Chappell Hill and Salem Fire Departments responded to the medical offices at 605 Medical Court for a report of a structure fire.

Nothing was showing from the exterior of the building, but upon entering, firefighters discovered light smoke inside the structure. They found a small fire inside the women’s restroom on the first floor.

Units used a water can to extinguish the fire that was coming from the vent fan.  The Brenham Fire Department says all occupants were evacuated safely.

There was no fire extension on the first or second floor.  Once the building was ventilated, all units returned to service.

The Brenham Fire Department had three other calls on Thursday.

Shortly before 3:15 p.m., firefighters went back out to 605 Medical Court for an alarm sounding.  The Brenham fire marshal was already on location working on the fire alarm, and the pull station was reset.

Just shy of 4 p.m., BFD members responded to a transportation incident in the 2600 block of Highway 36 South.  They found a two-vehicle accident that had pulled into a parking lot.  No one was hurt, and there were no fluids leaking.

Around 9:30 p.m., units were dispatched to the 700 block of West First Street for a report of a gas smell inside an apartment.  Firefighters and the City of Brenham Gas Department made location and found nothing on the outside of the building.  Initially, they were getting no readings on their gas detector, but the gas department checked the next apartment over and found a small gas leak in the attic.  The gas was turned off to that apartment, and firefighters cleared the call.
