BURTON TRACK TEAM MEMBERS HEADING TO STATE
It has been a busy week for Burton High School athletics. Not only did softball and baseball compete in the playoffs, but members of the Burton Panther Track Team took part in the Regional Meet being held at Texas A&M Kingsville on Friday and Saturday.
Three individuals and one relay team are moving on the State Track Meet on May 15 at Myers Stadium on the University of Texas campus in Austin.
Burton finished fourth place overall as a team at the Regional Meet.
Austin Symank is making a return trip to State after winning the Boys 110 Meter Hurdles. Symank won the event with a time of 15.03 seconds.
Meanwhile, Kayden Patterson set a new school record and a regional record by winning the Boys 300 Meter Hurdles with a time of 38.42 seconds.
Lexi Broesche finished second in the Girls 300 Meter Hurdles with a time of 46.24 seconds. She also just missed going in the Girls 100 Meter Hurdles as well. Broesche finished that event in third place with a time of 16.90 seconds.
The Boys 4x100 Meter Relay Team of Blaine Bohl, Logun Tosta, Austin Simank, and Kayden Patterson finished in second place with a time of 43.07 seconds to advance as well.
Also competing at Regionals, Logun Tosta finished fifth in the Boys 300 Meter Hurdles with a time of 40.83 seconds.
Tyler Hancock was fifth in the High Jump at five feet, ten inches.
The 4x200 Meter Relay Team, which also consisted of Bohl, Tosta, Simank, and Patterson finished sixth with a time of one minute and 32.24 seconds.
