BRENHAM FD RESPONDS OVER WEEKEND FOR ACCIDENT, GAS LEAK
The Brenham Fire Department responded to five calls between Saturday and early this (Monday) morning.
Around 7:30 p.m. Saturday, units were dispatched for an electrical emergency at Dollar General, 2311 South Market Street. When firefighters arrived, they found a line hanging low in the back of the parking area. The line was traced to a telecommunication box. The City of Brenham Electric Department arrived and declared the line non-hazardous.
A few minutes past 8:45 a.m. Sunday, BFD members were called out to a residence in the 1400 block of Lee Street for a report of a gas smell inside the garage. Nothing was showing from the exterior of the home. Firefighters and the City of Brenham Gas Department found that the water heater had a small gas leak. The gas department stayed on location, while the fire department returned to service.
Approaching 11:15 a.m., personnel went out to the 800 block of Hosea Street to assist the Brenham Police Department. Firefighters made location to find the police department needing to get onto the roof. Police investigated the area, and the fire department cleared the call.
Around 8 p.m., a transportation incident was called in from the 400 block of Highway 290 West. There, units found a two-vehicle accident with no injuries. They cleaned the roadway off and returned to the station after both vehicles were removed from the roadway.
At 2:15 a.m. today, firefighters received a report of a tree on a power line in the 700 block of North Market Street. They found a large tree across the roadway with a cable line down. The fire department and electric department cut the tree up and returned to service.
