MULTIPLE STORM-RELATED CALLS FOR BRENHAM FD
The Brenham Fire Department was called out three times on Tuesday, as well as multiple times early this (Wednesday) morning due to storms overnight.
Around 12:45 p.m. Tuesday, BFD personnel received a report of a structure fire at Buccaneer Food Store, 1309 Prairie Lea Street. They found a breaker box had overheated, so they shut the main breaker off to the box and advised the owner to get it fixed. Damage was contained to the breaker box.
Just before 3:30 p.m., firefighters were called to the 200 block of East Stone Street for a gas leak. They discovered a boring company had hit a gas line. They blocked the street and stood by until the City of Brenham Gas Department stopped the leak.
Close to 6 p.m., another gas leak was reported at a home in the 2200 block of Rindle Court. The department found a malfunctioning stove. The gas was turned off, and the owner was advised to get the unit repaired.
Around 1:15 a.m. today, units responded to the 1400 block of Burleson Street for a reported structure collapse. Upon arrival, they found downed trees in the front yard of a residence, along with a brick structure with heavy damage to it. The department made sure the occupant was out and that all utilities were shutoff to the residence.
The department also went out between the hours of 1 a.m. and 2:30 a.m. to five different addresses for power lines down and for two fire alarms. All of the calls were due to the weather.
