BRENHAM POLICE MAKE BOOKINGS FOR AGGRAVATED ASSAULT, FRAUD, POSSESSION OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE

Six people were arrested by Brenham police between Thursday and Saturday on charges including aggravated assault, fraud, evasion and drug possession.

Just past 2 p.m. Thursday, K9 Sergeant Jimmy Ha and Corporal Jason Kasprowicz responded to a fraud call located near the 2000 block of South Day Street.  Investigation revealed that an individual, later identified as 27-year-old Jermance Webb of Houston, was allegedly attempting to cash a check that did not belong to him.  Police report that Webb then evaded from officers, but was caught after a brief foot chase.  He was placed into custody for Failure to Identify – Giving False/Fictitious Information, Evading Arrest/Detention, Fraudulent Use/Possession of Identifying Information Less Than 5 Items, and Forgery of a Financial Instrument $2,500 - $30,000.

Shortly after 2 a.m. Friday, Officer Eric Crosby responded to the 900 block of West Main Street in reference to a disturbance.  During the course of the investigation, police determined that 34-year-old Kedrick McNeil of Brenham had an active warrant issued by Brenham Municipal Court for Driving While License Invalid.  Dispatch confirmed the warrant, and McNeil was subsequently placed into custody without incident and taken to the Washington County Jail.

Approaching 7 p.m. Saturday, Officer Gabriel Duran conducted a traffic stop in the 1100 block of North Park Street for an equipment violation.  Police conducted a probable cause search after detecting an odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle.  After investigation from the course of the search, 19-year-old Dylan Kennis Beldric Heckard of Houston and 18-year-old Jadlyn Cashsha Walker-Dorsey of Houston were placed under arrest.  Heckard and Walker-Dorsey were both charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 2, 4-400 Grams, with Heckard being additionally charged with Possession of Marijuana Under 2oz.

Close to 8:30 p.m., Officer Stephen Mosley responded to the 200 block of Riggs Street in reference to a disturbance.  Police say their investigation revealed that 21-year-old Gene Edward Freeman III of Brenham had allegedly used a firearm to commit an assault and had an active parole violation warrant for Aggravated Robbery out of Washington County.  Further, police report that 30-year-old James Charles Daniels Jr. of Somerville had assaulted another individual on scene and had two active warrants out of Washington County for No Driver’s License and Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility.  Freeman and Daniels were both taken into custody and transported to the Washington County Jail.  Police say Freeman is being charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Assault Causing Bodily Injury, in addition to his warrant.  Daniels was booked for his warrants and for Assault Causing Bodily Injury.
