FIVE SUNDAY CALLS FOR BRENHAM FD INCLUDE ACCIDENT, GAS SPILL

  

The Brenham Fire Department went out to five calls on Sunday.

Nearing 9:45 a.m., units were dispatched to a fire alarm at a home in the 300 block of Rucker Street.  They made location and found no issues with the alarm.

Just shy of 2 p.m., firefighters responded to a crash at Highway 36 South and FM 109.  They provided traffic control until both vehicles were removed from the roadway.

A material spill was called in shortly before 5:15 p.m. in the 100 block of East Alamo Street.  Firefighters found a very small amount of gas on the ground.  They mitigated the gas and returned to service.

At 7 p.m., BFD personnel were called out for a gas odor at a home in the 200 block of Mary Gene Street.  They made location and stood by until the City of Brenham Gas Department arrived, so that the scene could be turned over to them.

Around 9:15 p.m., units received a report of a structure fire at a home in the 1500 block of Gun and Rod Road.  Nothing was showing from the one-story structure.  The department went to investigate where the smoke was coming from and found it to be a ceiling fan.  Firefighters turned the power off to that part of the house and advised the owner of the issue before turning the scene over to the owner and clearing the call.
