GIDDINGS ISD HIRES NEW ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT

  

The Giddings School Board has hired Dr. Melissa Crosby to serve as the district’s new Assistant Superintendent.

Dr. Crosby brings more than 20 years of experience in public education, including extensive experience in campus leadership, instructional support, special education, and teaching.

She has served as a principal in Waller ISD since 2013, most recently serving as principal of McReavy Elementary School, and having served as principal of Fields Store Elementary School for more than a decade.

Crosby earned her Doctor of Education degree in Educational Leadership from Texas Tech University in May 2026. She also holds a master's degree in Educational Psychology and a bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, both from Texas A&M University.

She also holds certifications as a Superintendent, Principal, and in several areas of special education including English as a Second Language, elementary education, reading, and mathematics.

Giddings ISD Superintendent Shane Holman said, “Dr. Crosby is an accomplished instructional leader who brings a wealth of experience in campus leadership, curriculum and instruction, professional development, and student support. Her commitment to building strong relationships and developing people aligns extremely well with our vision.”

Crosby expressed her enthusiasm about joining the Giddings ISD team and serving the students, staff, and families.

She said that she is honored to join the community and looks forward to listening, learning, and building meaningful relationships as they work together to support the campuses and provide every student with the opportunities they deserve.
