BELLVILLE FOOTBALL PREVIEW

The Bellville Brahma Football Team is looking to bounce back after a let-down year in 2025.

The Brahmas did everything as normal. They finished the regular season 8-2 overall, and that includes going 5-0 in district play to claim another championship under long-time Head Coach Grady Rowe. The surprise came as they lost to a 2-8 China Spring team in the bi-district round of the playoffs.

UIL Realignment, which came back in February, placed Bellville in a new district, 12-4A Division II, along with Brazosport, Hitchcock, Harmony School of Innovation-Katy, La Grange, and La Marque.

Dave Campbell's Texas Football has the Brahmas ranked at #16 in the Class 4A Division II poll.

The magazine picked the Brahmas to finish first, followed by La Marque, Hitchcock, La Grange, Brazosport, and Harmony School of Innovation-Katy.

Bellville returns four starters on offense and three on defense. Senior Athlete Don Gillum is the Preseason Defensive MVP. Last season, Gillum saw time on offense and defense, as well as returning kicks and punts.

The Brahmas are known for their rushing attack on offense. However, they got a boost from QB Knox Bauerschlag, who will be a Senior this year. Bauerschlag completed 45-90 passes for 889 yards, 11 touchdowns, and five interceptions. He also had a 101.3 QB rating.

The top returning rusher from last year is Senior RB Travis Turner. Turner had 127 carries for 1,202 yards, which came out to 9.5 yards per carry. He also scored 16 rushing touchdowns.

LB Carlos Aponte, who is a Senior this year, is projected to lead the defense after being involved on 97 tackles last season.
