NAVASOTA POLICE FIND OVER 25 POUNDS OF MARIJUANA DURING TRAFFIC STOP

  

A traffic stop by Navasota police on Thursday resulted in the discovery of over 25 pounds of marijuana.

Police say an officer was conducting traffic enforcement in the 6900 block of Highway 6 when they observed a southbound Chevrolet Malibu committing multiple traffic violations.  Police performed a traffic stop in the 10200 block of Highway 6.

Upon making contact with the driver, police reported finding a small amount of marijuana residue in plain view and detected the odor of raw marijuana inside the vehicle.

Following a probable cause search, police say they located a suitcase holding multiple packages of marijuana, with a combined weight of 25.86 pounds.

The driver, 34-year-old James Oliver III of Cypress, was charged with Possession of Marijuana 5-50 Pounds, a third degree felony.
