WASHINGTON CO. LADIES LIONS MAKE $5,000 DONATIONS TO SENIOR CENTER, EYEGLASS RECYCLING CENTER

The Washington County Ladies Lions Club contributed a total of $10,000 toward a pair of causes in July.
The Texas Lions Eyeglass Recycling Center received $5,000 at the District 2S5 meeting in Bryan. Officials from the center said the donation will assist them in their efforts to prepare used eyeglasses to send worldwide. The glasses are available to anyone at no cost.
The second $5,000 was donated to the Margaret E. Blizzard Senior Activity Center in support of its daily activities. The club also presented a thank you to the senior center for its continued support of the club’s eyeglass recycle project.

The donations were made from the proceeds of the club’s recent annual fundraiser. The club selects a Lions charity and a local charity, voted on by the club members in January.
President Charlotte Mulligan stated the donation to the eyeglass recycling center is important to the club members, as their motto is, “Vision is our vision.”
