EIGHT WEEKEND CALLS FOR BRENHAM FD INCLUDE MULTIPLE ACCIDENTS, FIRE ALARMS

  

The Brenham Fire Department responded to eight calls over the weekend.

At 9:45 a.m. Saturday, units went out to a fire alarm at a home in the 1100 block of Davy Street.  They found burnt food, which had caused the alarm to go off.  After checking the house, no smoke was found.

At 1 p.m., firefighters were dispatched to a crash at West Tom Green Street and South Austin Street.  They found the crash had moved into a parking lot, and there were no injuries reported.  Firefighters were released by Brenham police.

Just before 2 p.m., a crash was reported in the 900 block of Highway 290 East.  The car was found stuck in a flower bed in the middle of a parking lot.  The department stood by until a wrecker removed the car from the spot.  No injuries were reported.

Shortly after 3:45 p.m., BFD personnel were called out for a gas odor at a home in the 700 block of Durden Street, but they were cancelled enroute to the scene. 

A few minutes past 4:30 p.m., firefighters responded for a fire investigation at a home in the 900 block of East Academy Street.  They found a fire that was in a barrel and advised the homeowner of the city ordinance before extinguishing the fire.

Just after 7:30 p.m., a fire alarm was called in from a home in the 3300 block of Rolling Valley Lane.  Firefighters found the alarm was caused by burnt food.  No smoke was found after checking the home.

On Sunday, at roughly 7:15 a.m., a fire alarm was reported at the Washington County EMS Station at 1875 Highway 290 West.  The alarm system was determined to be malfunctioning, and the fire department advised contacting the alarm company about the issues.

Around 11:15 p.m., firefighters went out to a crash in the 2500 block of South Day Street.  They provided blocking for the crash until a wrecker could make location.  No injuries were reported.
