SHERIFF’S OFFICE REPORTS ARRESTS FOR EVASION, MARIJUANA POSSESSION

  

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office arrested three people between Tuesday and early this (Wednesday) morning.

Shortly after 7 p.m. Tuesday, Corporal Matthew Brown conducted a traffic stop in the 15000 block of Highway 290 West for an expired registration.  The sheriff’s office reports that the driver did not have a driver’s license nor proof of insurance and was in possession of marijuana.  54-year-old Jose Angel Garcia-Esparza of Manor was taken into custody and transported to the Washington County Jail, where he was charged with Driving While License Invalid Enhanced and Possession of Marijuana Under 2oz.

A few minutes past 8:45 p.m., Sergeant Fay Janes-Busse conducted a traffic stop at Highway 36 North and Wauls Legion Road for a defective headlamp.  Upon making contact, the sheriff’s office says it detected an odor of marijuana and found marijuana during a search of the vehicle.  The driver was also found to have active warrants.  24-year-old La Dohnwynn Desshomon Deray Thompson of Houston was taken to the Washington County Jail for Possession of Marijuana Under 2oz., Display/Expired Registration, Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility, two warrants for Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility, a warrant for Speeding, and a warrant for Failure to Stop or Remain Stopped for School Bus.

Just after 2:30 a.m. today, Corporal Robert McAnally conducted a traffic stop for speeding and a defective headlamp near Highway 36 North and Lucky Lane.  According to the sheriff’s office, the passenger fled the vehicle on foot, but returned and was taken into custody.  An odor of marijuana was stated to be emitting from the vehicle, but nothing was located during a search.  The driver was cited and released, while the passenger, 17-year-old Keshun Dmarcus Harris of Brenham, was placed into custody and booked at the Washington County Jail for Evading Arrest/Detention.
