BRENHAM FD CALLED OUT FOR AIRCRAFT EMERGENCY

  

The Brenham Fire Department responded to four calls on Friday and one early this (Saturday) morning.

Just before 8:30 a.m. Friday, members of the Brenham Fire Department and Berlin Volunteer Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire at Smitty’s Café and Bakery, 4355 Highway 290 West.  Units found no smoke or fire in the building.  They ultimately found one of the AC units had a burnt circuit board, which caused the smell.  Firefighters returned to service.

Shortly after 9:30 a.m., units went out to a fire alarm at the Mill Creek Residence Hall, 1192 Old Mill Creek Road.  They made location to find construction workers in the building, which caused the alarm to go off. 

At 1:15 p.m., the department was dispatched to a crash at West Tom Green Street and South Day Street.  Firefighters provided blocking before being released from the scene.

Approaching 10:15 p.m., BFD personnel were called out to the Brenham Municipal Airport for an aircraft emergency.  They arrived to find a small aircraft on its belly.  The department provided fire protection while the aircraft was being moved.  Once the aircraft was removed from the runway, units cleared the call.  No injuries were reported.

Around 3:30 a.m. today, firefighters were dispatched to the 900 block of Salem Road for a gas odor.  They checked for leaks, but none were found.
