BRENHAM FD RESPONDS TO PETROLEUM SPILL, ACCIDENT

The Brenham Fire Department reported three calls between Friday afternoon and early this (Saturday) morning.

Around 5:30 p.m. Friday, units were dispatched to a crash in the 400 block of West Blue Bell Road.  They found a two-vehicle accident with minor damage.  No one was injured and no fluids were leaking, so the department returned to service.

A few minutes after 8:45 p.m., members of the Brenham Fire Department and Chappell Hill Volunteer Fire Department went out to a report of hazmat in the 8900 block of Highway 290 East.  They found a large spill on the ground that was believed to be diesel, and after testing the spill, they found that it was a petroleum liquid.  The departments spoke with the owner and advised to have a cleaning company come out.

At 4:30 a.m. today, BFD personnel responded to an alarm at the Brenham State Supported Living Center, 4001 Highway 36 South.  Nothing was showing from the exterior of the building.  They went on to find a bad detector and reset the alarm before clearing the call.
