BRENHAM FD RESPONDS FOR ACCIDENT, GRASS FIRE

  

The Brenham Fire Department responded to seven calls between Monday and Tuesday. 

Around 8:15 a.m. Monday, units were dispatched for a strange odor reported in the area of Gay Hill Street and Matilda Street.  Upon arrival, they could smell the odor and began canvassing the area for a source, but it eventually began to dissipate and was no longer present throughout the area.

At 9 a.m., firefighters were called out for a fire alarm at Emerson, 1951 Highway 290 West.  They found a fire alarm company testing the system. 

Around 7:45 a.m. Tuesday, BFD members went out to a motor-vehicle accident on A H Ehrig Drive.  They discovered a two-vehicle crash with minor damage.  One patient was transported by EMS.  One vehicle was moved off the road, and the other was towed.

Just past 1 p.m., personnel responded for a fire investigation on Ross Street and found a homeowner burning in a burn pit in their back yard.  The department advised the homeowner that he had to extinguish the fire and gave him an educational pamphlet on burning in the city limits.

Approaching 3:15 p.m., Brenham firefighters were dispatched for mutual aid to a grass fire near Chappell Hill Sausage, 4255 Sausage Lane.  The Brenham Fire Department was assigned to extinguish a spot fire in the median of the highway.  It put out the fire and was released by command.

A few minutes after 6:15 p.m., units were called out for a fire alarm at the Brenham State Supported Living Center, 4001 Highway 36 South.  Nothing was showing from the exterior of the building.  The alarm was determined to have been activated because of a behavioral issue, and staff reset the alarm.

Close to midnight, a fire alarm was reported at Kruse Village, 1700 East Stone Street.  Firefighters investigated the alarm and found it to be false, so the system was reset.
