The Blinn College women’s soccer team fell to No. 10 Trinity Valley Community College 5-1 in a Region 14 matchup Saturday in Athens, Texas.

The Buccaneers dropped to 4-3 overall and 3-2 in region play.

Trinity Valley struck first in the ninth minute and added goals in the 27th and 44th minutes to take a 3-0 lead into halftime. The Cardinals extended their advantage with goals in the 56th and 76th minutes.

Freshman forward Amanda Millar put the Bucs on the scoreboard in the 75th minute.

Sophomore goalkeeper Reese Cauthen took the loss for Blinn and fell to 4-3 on the season.

"The better team won today," Blinn head coach Alexandria Jackson said. "Trinity Valley is the No. 10 team in the nation for a reason, and when you are playing a top team, you need to show up. Unfortunately, they were ready and we were not.

"We showed a lack of maturity. This team is only as good as its current performance, and I'm really disappointed in our ability to show up. We need to get back to work quickly."

Blinn returns home for another Region 14 matchup against Angelina College at 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18, at Rankin Field in Brenham, Texas.
