ROUND TOP AMERICAN LEGION POST RECENT ACTIVITIES
(Bruce Bockhorn)
Over the last several weeks, the American Legion Quade-Werchan Post #338 in Round Top has been active in the community.
The Post Auxiliary delivered donations to Becky Leer of the LaGrange VFW Auxiliary to help give veterans comfort while they are hospitalized.
Ten backpacks were provided that included new t-shirts, underwear, socks, sweat suits, stocking caps, and toiletries for male and female veterans.
Post #338 Auxiliary’s donation will be combined with the LaGrange American Legion Post #102 Auxiliary and VFW Post #254 Auxiliary to be distributed at the LaGrange VA Clinic for those vets who are being admitted to VA hospitals or similar care facilities.
Donation of new items in sizes of Medium, Large and Extra Large can be made by contacting your local VFW and American Legion Auxiliaries.
The October meeting of American Legion Quade-Werchan Post #338 was held in conjunction with the Carmine Chamber of Commerce ‘Night Out’ at the Carmine Fire Station.
The Post, with assistance from members of the local 4H Club, conducted a Flag Disposal Ceremony at the start of the event in accordance with procedures of the American Legion. The Chamber and the 4H had collected flags for disposal and prepared them for the ceremony.
The next regular meeting of the Post and Auxiliary at their facility will occur on November 5 beginning at 6:30 PM. Members of the post and auxiliary are encouraged to attend.
