TEXAS STUDENTS ABLE TO APPLY TO PUBLIC COLLEGES FOR FREE THIS WEEK

Texas residents can apply for free this week to public colleges and universities.

Free College Application Week runs through Sunday, October 18th, giving eligible students the ability to apply for undergraduate admission to public institutions in Texas without having to pay an application fee.  The initiative applies for first-time students and transfer students, as well as students returning to college.

The program was created through Senate Bill 2231 as part of the 89th Texas Legislature.  According to the Office of Governor Greg Abbott, more than 260,000 applications were submitted during the first Free College Application Week last year.

Students must submit their application through ApplyTexas to take advantage of the application fee waiver.  They are encouraged to verify the deadlines of the institution they are applying to for items like supporting documents and scholarships.
