BRENHAM FIRE DEPT. RESPONDS FOR TWO ACCIDENTS, A/C ISSUES
The Brenham Fire Department was called out five times on Thursday.
Around 11 a.m., units responded to East Stone Street and South Market Street for a transportation incident. They found a two-vehicle accident with minor damage. No one was hurt, and no fluids were leaking.
At 9:15 p.m., firefighters received a report of lines hanging down from a power pole in the 1600 block of South Market Street. Upon arrival, they found one line hanging down. The City of Brenham Electric Department made location and found the wire to be AT&T’s. The line was removed, and units returned to service.
Just past 9:30 p.m., BFD members were dispatched to a transportation incident in the 1600 block of Highway 105. They located a two-vehicle accident, with one vehicle striking a building. There was minor damage to the building and vehicles, but no injuries or fluids leaking.
Shortly after 9:45 p.m., firefighters were called out to Melcher Hall, 601 Prairie Lea Street on the Blinn College campus, for a fire alarm. Nothing was showing from the exterior of the building. The department determined that construction caused the alarm to go off, so the alarm was reset.
At 10:15 p.m., units from the Brenham Fire Department and Chappell Hill Volunteer Fire Department went out for a report of a structure fire at a residence in the 7000 block of Trackside Road in Chappell Hill. Nothing was showing from the outside of the building, and a check found that the A/C was causing the smell and light haze inside the home. The A/C unit was turned off, and firefighters advised the homeowner to have a repair company come look at the unit.
