ACCIDENT, GAS SMELL REPORTS AMONG FIVE CALLS WEDNESDAY FOR BRENHAM FD
The Brenham Fire Department was called out five times on Wednesday.
Just past 8 a.m., firefighters responded to a residence in the 1100 block of Kerr Street for smoke in the area. They arrived to find a burn pit in the backyard and advised the homeowner of the city ordinance.
Shortly after 9 a.m., units were dispatched to a home in the 1000 block of Legrand Street for a report of a gas smell. No reading of gas was found on the fire department’s detector. The City of Brenham Gas Department made location.
Approaching 11:45 a.m., an alarm was called in from Kruse Village, 1700 East Stone Street. Nothing was showing from the exterior of the building. Firefighters found that a resident had burned some food, causing smoke inside the apartment. The fire department used an electric fan to remove the smoke and reset the alarm.
Nearing 4 p.m., BFD members went out to O’Reilly Auto Parts, 2119 South Market Street, for a report of a gas smell in the back. Firefighters and the Gas Department found a broken case of oil in the trash can was causing the smell, and they removed the trash can from the building.
Close to 7:15 p.m., units responded to the 1900 block of South Market Street for a transportation incident. They discovered a two-vehicle accident with minor damage, helped EMS with patient care and cleaned the roadway off. After both vehicles were removed, the fire department cleared the call.
