BRENHAM FIREMEN HAVE BUSY WEEKEND

  

On Saturday afternoon firemen were dispatched to a Blinn College dormitory at 601 Prairie Lea Street where a fire alarm was sounding.  Upon arrival a Blinn police officer told them that someone smoking a vape pipe in one of the rooms had set off the alarm.  The alarm was re-set, and all units returned to the fire station.

At 12:01 a.m. Sunday, firemen responded to a two vehicle accident at 1200 U.S. Highway 290 West in Brenham.  A male was trapped inside one of the two vehicles, but he eventually was able to climb out of the driver’s side back window.  The Fire Department provided lights for the scene for Brenham Police, then returned to service.

At 8:39 Sunday morning, firemen were dispatched to a two vehicle auto accident in the 8800 block of FM 2621.  Brenham firemen arrived to find two patients trapped inside one of the vehicles.  They used cutters and spreaders to remove the passenger door and extract the patients.

At 1:42 Sunday afternoon, firemen were dispatched to a dumpster fire near the intersection of East Academy and Chappell Hill Streets.  Firemen extinguished the fire with water from the pumper truck.  Damage was contained to the dumpster.

At 5:32 PM, Brenham firemen were dispatched along with the Meyersville Volunteer Fire Department to a reported grass fire in the 800 block of Allen Road.  Firemen arrived and found it was a controlled burn.

At 6:08 Sunday evening, Brenham firemen were dispatched to a dumpster fire in the 1200 block of Rink Street.  Several callers had reported heavy black smoke coming from the area.  Firemen arrived to find a large dumpster on fire along with wooden pallets nearby that were also burning.  Firemen used water from their truck as well and a nearby fire hydrant to extinguish the blaze.  They report moderate damage to the dumpster and the building adjacent to it.  No injuries were reported.
