COLORADO COUNTY COURTHOUSE RESTORED

  

The Colorado County Commissioners will be re-dedicating their courthouse this Saturday following months of restoration.

The restoration was made possible with two grants from the Texas Historical Commission through the Texas Historic Courthouse Preservation Project.

The rededication ceremony is at 10am Saturday.

Work began on the first project funded by the Texas Historical Grant Round Six in September of 2010 and the second project was funded in the seventh round of the grants.  The second phase began in August of 2012 in an effort to return the 1891 courthouse to ‘its former glory.’

Since 1999,. Nearly $247 million has been awarded to more than 70 counties for the preservation of their county courthouses and the program has served an important economic engine for Texas.
