NEW AGRILIFE AGENT TO BE NAMED
It has been several months since Larry Pierce left was the Washington County Agri-Life Extension Agent but his replacement is expected to be named when the County Commissioners meet Tuesday at the courthouse.
County Judge John Brieden would not say who will be taking over. That, he says will be the big announcement Tuesday.
After the new agent is named, the Commissioners will receive an award for its support and cooperation frm the Texas A&M Agrilife Extension Service.
The Commissioners will also make a proclamation declaring this week as Emergency Medical Services Week in Washington County.
Judge Brieden says the county needs more courtroom space, and that space needs to be more secure. He says eventually the county will need to build a new justice center adjacent to the county jail. In order to do this, the county road and bridge department needs to be moved. The County Commissioners are expected to give the county judge the authority to negotiate for property, without relying on the regular bidding process to find a home for the road and bridge department.
The Washington County Commissioners are meeting Tuesday morning at nine at the courthouse.
