SOMERVILLE ISD NAMES SPARKS FULL-TIME SUPERINTENDENT

  

Interim Somerville ISD Superintendent Karla Sparks has been named the finalist for the permanent position.

The Somerville School Board recently voted unanimously to hire Sparks for the full-time post.

Sparks has been serving in the post since May, when Charles Camarillo took the superintendent post in Poteet.

Sparks has been in Somerville for seven years—three as the high school principal; three as director of curriculum; and this year as interim superintendent.

Board President Bryan Crook says Sparks was the only candidate the board considered for the post.

Sparks says she’s been working toward this for the past four years, and this is where she “needs to be.”
