ELECTION DAY TODAY FOR RUNOFFS

Today, (Tuesday) is round two for the Texas primary.  Texas election law says candidates in both the Republican and Democratic parties need to acquire at least 50 percent of the vote in the primary to be nominated for the November ballot.  That left a lot of unfinished business from the March 4TH Primary. This is the day for the primary election runoff.

County Clerk Beth Rothermel says you polling site may have changed so it is important that you double check you polling site.

There is one contested race in Washington County in the Republican ballot.  In precinct four, attorney Bill Kendall is vying for the Justice of the Peace bench against businesswoman Robin Luedtke,

Rothermel says she is encouraged by the high voter turnout in early voting.  The early voting ended Friday afternoon with 1314 people casting ballots in the Republican primary and 84 casting Democratic ballots.

The polls will be open from 7am to 7pm.
